How Soon Can I Walk On the Carpets After Cleaning?
We’ve seen homes or businesses where carpet dried in less than an hour. On the other hand, in extremely humid areas, it can take much longer for carpet to completely dry. We’ve known the drying process to take upwards of 8 hours, but this is very rare. If you are concerned about how long drying your carpet will take, or if you’d like to speed it up a bit, there are a couple of things you can do.

- Turn on ceiling fans or standing room fans. The circulation of air will accelerate the drying process.
- Run your heating system or air conditioning system (depending on what time of year it is, of course). Just like the fans, you will be circulating air throughout the room, which will help the carpet dry quicker. The temperature of the air doesn’t affect its drying power.
Drying times depend on a number of things. The type of fabric the carpet is made of affects how quickly it will dry. If Corpus Christi Carpet Cleaning Pros has had to perform any spot removal services, that could increase the drying time, too.
The weather outside affects drying time the most. Hot and dry is ideal carpet cleaning weather. If you don’t mind opening up the windows and letting that air in, your carpet will dry even faster. If it’s raining on the day we clean your carpets, don’t look for them to dry until the rain stops.
Even if the carpet is not completely dry, though, you can still walk on it if necessary. Take your shoes off to reduce the risk of putting dirt right back into cleaned carpet. However, be aware that when you walk on the carpet, it squishes down the “nap,” which is another name for the way the carpet fibers naturally stand. Walking on the carpet lays these fibers down, increasing the amount of time it may take for the carpet to dry.
